Astroboy Opens Tomorrow!

Hey folks,

Hope you can go support the new Astroboy film that opens tomorrow. Once you've watched the film, head back to this site and listen to this interview with the writer and director David Bowers! I enjoyed the film , but had issues with the story. Good design and good animation make this an entertaining film, and if your a fan of the series, you should go watch this!.

Brian Yam-Concept Artist from Naughty Dog Comes to the Inland Empire


Brian Yam, an amazing concept artist will be here on Saturday Oct 10 from 3-6pm Brian has worked on the RESISTANCE FALL OF MAN 1,2. Ratchet and Clank, and Uncharted 2. He is a concept artist at Naughty Dog, one of the premerie Sony Playstation 3 Game Developers!

BE THERE! All GAD students NEED to attend this. If you have a class, talk to your instructor about coming., Or better yet WAIT for the VIDEO! (But you have to wait another week) SO GO TO IT NOW! He will be here from 3-6pm

He will be doing speedpainting demo and talking about color and composition. Senior students bring your portfolios! He will be looking at portfolios the last hour.

Tim Allen, Background Designer from Disney TV comes to the Inland Empire



Hey Folks,

Tim Allen will talk about color and composition for background design for tv and feature and what he does at Disney, and the particular tools he uses. He will be using Illustrator and Photoshop.Tim Allen has done work for Fosters Friends, Powerpuff girls and now is at Disney TV.

He will be doing a workshop from 1-4pm on Saturday Rm. 2123 (Mac Computer lab)

Ian Worrel from Jibjab visits Art Institute Thursday, July 30, 12:00PM -


Hey folks, Ian Worrel will talk about his work as a production designer and animator at JibJab Productions. Jibjab has done a number of animated political shorts that have appeared on the Tonight show and a number of other places. Ian will talk about what it takes to be a designer and animator in this medium and how you can successful make the transition from student to professional. Ian graduated from the character animation department at CalArts and spent 5 quarters at an AI in Orange County before then. He was a co-director and the production designer for the latest Obama film we just put out. Come see him talk in R-154 Thursday, July 30, 12:00PM -1:00pm. Hope to see ya there!
